This Month In Music

So the hip hop world was honored in this month of March with a handful of huge releases and announcements. Wiz Khalifa and Taylor Gang released the anticipated Taylor Allderdice mixtape, which shut down multiple website's servers, last week on March 13th. This week alone we saw famed Tyler, The Creator and Crew, Odd Future, release their newest studio album The Odd Future Tape Vol. 2, Machine Gun Kelly release Half Naked and Almost Famous EP, and Mac Miller releasing the Macadelic mixtape.

While Taylor Allderdice has obtained over 500k downloaded on hip hop site DatPiff.com, it has also given the Wiz fans what they wanted after the Rolling Papers studio album. From top to bottom the Taylor Gang crew kills this mixtape while including some huge features. Starting off the mixtape is the intro Amber Ice. This song is a great start to this mixtape. The tempo is set by a nice, laid back flow. Follow that up with the previously released single off of the tape, California, the tape is already set. Out of the 19 tracks on the T.A. mixtape, I have yet to find one I don't enjoy. The tape even includes features by Rick Ross, Smoke DZA, and the rest of the Taylor Gang crew. The beginning of the tape sets up the stoner flow, but once you reach My Favorite Song (Feat. Juicy J) the tape takes a turn for the Wiz fans who were asking him to go back to the old Wiz. Following that up with T.A.P. , The Code, The Grinder, Brainstorm, Number 16, and Blindfolds hardcore Wiz fans take a look back at his famed Kush & O.J. flow. T.A. shows off the newest addition to the "gang" Three 6 Mafia member, Juicy J. I give the tape an overall score of 8/10.

On Tuesday, March 20, two big releases were dropped. Tyler, The Creator and his crew Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA, or simply Odd Future) dropped their newest project The Odd Future Tape, Vol 2. Obviously, this is the sequel to their 2008 mixtape The Odd Future Tape. The crew gave us fans what we've been waiting for with an 18-track set. They pick up right where they left off starting off the album with Domo Genesis and Hodgy Beats with Bitches. Following that up with (in no order) Lean, P, Rella, NY(Ned Flander), Analog 2, Hcapd, and Oldie, OF gives us a great tape. After saying that recently returning Earl Sweatshirt would not be on the album, about half way through the cypher-like Oldie, Earl kills the beat like usual. This album, following Hodgy Beats Untitled EP gives the fans enough to wait for Tyler, The Creator's 3rd studio album Wolf due to be released in May '12. I give this album an 8/10 as well

Cleveland's own Machine Gun Kelly released his first Bad Boy Records joint with Half Naked and Almost Famous EP. Along with the EP, a downloadable DVD following MGK was available. The EP contained the raging classic, and his first single, Wild Boy as well as Warning Shot and Half Naked and Almost Famous, he releases two new tracks entitled See My Tears and EST 4 Life. With both of these new tracks, he puts his emotions out on a sleeve to let his fans know how he truly feels about what he does and how much he loves them. MGK who was recently named one of this year's XXL Freshmen of the year will be releasing his first official studio album in the coming year, and it will be titled like his famed mixtape and his life long slogan, Lace Up. I give the EP a 7.4/10.

Last but certainly not least, Pittsburgh's Mac Miller releases something that will change the game. Macadelic is one of those special mixtapes that not many get the chance to release. Following up the chart topping Blue Slide Park in November, Mac immediately made his fans aware that his next mixtape will change everything, and he certainly did not disappoint. The first track off the tape Desperado sets up the track perfectly. Any doubt that fans had that he sold out to the mainstream is instantly vanished after this track and his previously released Loud. Miller changes his normal style of rapping about sex, drugs, and money to real life situations. Just like Wiz, he reached out and picked up some HUGE features. The biggest one being Lil Wayne on the track, The Question. He also has a collab with Cam'ron, Kendrick Lamar, Juicy J, and former OF member Casey Veggies. The mixtape from top to bottom reminds Mac Miller fans why they became fans in the first place. I highly recommend this tape to every one, and I'll let you know right now watch out for this guy in the coming months. I expect huge things from Miller after this tape while on his Macadelic tour. I give the tape a 9/10.

This is pretty much my first official post. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I'm Stumpy, and this is what I have to say.
