Mac Miller Being Sued?

Looks like there's another Pittsburgh rapper being sued for "stealing" a beat. First time it was Wiz Khalifa being sued over the use of the beat for "Black and Yellow" now its Mac Miller over "Kool Aid and Frozen Pizza".

Lord Finesse is suing Mac for $10 million after he says that Mac took the beat without notification and then used it as his own. The beat, originally used for the song "Hip 2 Da Game" was used as I said for "Kool Aid and Frozen Pizza" off of the K.I.D.S mixtape Miller released years ago.

Finesse of course is a legend to the rap game, but this is ridiculous. The song was released what, 3 years ago. Why is this just now happening? It also doesn't help that Mac is giving a different story than Lord Finesse.

Paraphrasing Mac Miller's tweets, the young artist says that unlike what Lord Finesse is saying, the two of them talked about using the song on multiple occasions and he was perfectly fine with it. He also says that when he heard of a possible lawsuit, he tried to get into contact with Lord Finesse to discuss the issue, but it was to no avail. Miller then went on to thank Lord Finesse for everything he has done for the hip hop industry.

Honestly, I think this is just another situation in which someone needs money and searches for a way to get some quick cash. I can see this suit being thrown out. It has been said before that Mac Miller has been accused of stealing beats from other DJs, but in this situation, if it was really stolen this would have come out a lot sooner. If this goes through, I'm just waiting for DJ Mark the 45 King to sue Miller for using the beat from "The 900 Number" on "Party on 5th Ave".

People these days are ridiculous. How often do we see young rappers taking a beat and doing a freestyle over it and then posting it on YouTube to get noticed? Or even mainstream artists taking a beat and using it on a mixtape. No one gets sued in those situations. So even after Miller says he discussed it with Lord Finesse, I still think it should be alright to just use the beat for a mixtape. This just seems like its going along the lines of why SOPA was killed.

But what the hell do I know, I'm just a 19 year old stupid kid, right? Its just the future of our country that is dying.

Stumpy
